Refund Policy

The refund rules. Written down before you sign.

Short version

  • If we deliver more than 2 working days late: 50% refund.
  • If you reject the mockup after one revision: 90% refund, project cancelled.
  • If you cancel after mockup approval but before launch: 50% of remaining balance held; rest refunded.
  • If you cancel after launch: No refund — work has been delivered.
  • Hosting / care plans: Pro-rated refund on cancellation (30-day notice).

Why we have a refund policy at all

Most agencies don’t. They prefer the ambiguity — it means they can argue with you when something goes wrong. We’d rather state the rules upfront so we both know what happens if either side falls short.

We’ve never had to enforce any of these clauses against ourselves. But they’re here because trust is built by what’s written down, not what’s promised.

Late-delivery refund (50%)

Each package has a stated delivery timeline (Lite 5 days, Starter 7, Growth 14, Shop 21, Custom 4–8 weeks). The clock starts from the day you provide all required content (text, photos, logo, credentials).

If we deliver the mockup or staging site more than 2 working days after that committed date, we refund 50% of any payment you’ve made. You can still proceed with the project (and pay the remaining 50%) if you’d like — the refund just compensates you for the delay.

Delays caused by you (slow content, slow approval, scope changes mid-project) don’t count.

Mockup rejection refund (90%)

Before we build the real site, we send a mockup — a design preview that shows what the final site will look like. You give feedback. We revise once based on your feedback.

If after one revision the mockup still isn’t right for you, you can cancel and we refund 90% of the deposit. The 10% covers the time we’ve put in.

This has never happened in 15 years of practice. But it’s in writing because that’s how trust works.

Mid-project cancellation

If you cancel after mockup approval but before final delivery, refunds depend on how far along the work is:

  • During design phase: 50% refund of payments made
  • During development phase: 25% refund of payments made
  • During QA / pre-launch: No refund

We don’t enforce these rigidly. If you have a genuine reason for cancelling (business closing down, change of direction), we’ll work something out.

Post-launch cancellation

Once your site is live on your domain and you’ve made final payment, the work has been delivered. There are no refunds at this stage. You own the site, the code, and the domain — you can move to any other host or developer at any time.

Hosting and care plans

Hosting and care plans bill monthly or annually. If you cancel:

  • Monthly plans: 30-day notice, then cancelled. No refund of the current month.
  • Annual plans: Pro-rated refund based on unused months, minus a 10% admin charge.

If we need to cancel your hosting (rare — usually because of policy violations), we give 60 days’ notice and help you migrate to another host.

How refunds are processed

Refunds are made to the original payment method (bank transfer if you paid by UPI / NEFT, cheque if you paid by cheque). Processing takes 5–10 working days from approval.

A revised GST invoice (credit note) is issued reflecting the refund — important for your accounting.

How to ask for a refund

Email hello@scrripta.com with the subject line “Refund request — [your order ID].” We acknowledge within one business day, process the refund within 5–10 working days, and confirm by email when the transfer is initiated.
